Neighborhood Services Organization serves the at-risk homeless population by providing housing solutions and teaching skills to transform lives. The Mission Committee organizes opportunities for our church members and visitors that add to the lives of those individuals and families living in NSO’s housing.
Martha’s House is designed to get mothers with multiple children off of the streets, out of shelters or out of dangerous living conditions. The program offers apartments where parents receive Lifeskills classes to learn to become self-sufficient and able to support themselves in permanent housing.
Santa Fe sponsors two apartments at Martha’s House by proving furniture, linens and household items. We collect items throughout the year and prepare the apartments for new residents as they become available. We volunteer babysitting support during Parenting classes, provide a birthday cake and present for each child. and include these children in special church events – Breakfast with Santa, Halloween Festival and Easter Egg Hunt.
Gatewood House apartment residents are given the valuable time to find work or complete school and find a home for their family while being given a 6 to 24 month curriculum of vital Lifeskills, helping them to become prepared, self-sufficient parents.
Santa Fe provides a birthday cake and present for each child at Martha’s House and include these children in special church events – Breakfast with Santa, Halloween Festival and Easter Egg Hunt. We also provide a barbeque at the end of the school year for residents.
Carolyn Williams Center is a 14-bed complex for homeless young men between 18-22 years old, who have aged out of the Oklahoma’s fosher care system. They gain employment, life skills, education and services to ensure their future self-sufficiency.
Monthly, several couples from our church volunteer to plan and share a meal with these young men. It is not just the meal that is offered, but conversation and an accepting relationship with other adults.
If you wish to become involved in one of the NSO mission opportunities, please contact the Missions Committee or call the church office (341-3300).
